Chef Gale Gand is a nationally acclaimed pastry chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, television personality, teacher, entrepreneur, and mother. Chef Gand has been recognized as Outstanding Pastry Chef of the Year by The James Beard Award Foundation and by Bon Appetite magazine.
For 8 years Gale hosted the Food Network series “Sweet Dreams”. She has also made appearances on Martha Stewart, Oprah, Baking with Julia Child, Good Morning America, Rachael Ray and The Today Show. She has also competed and or judged on Iron Chef America, Food Network Challenge, Last Cake Standing, Top Chef and Top Chef Just Desserts.
Gale was founding pastry chef and partner at the acclaimed Tru in Chicago, which earned ecstatic praise from The James Beard Foundation, Michelin, Mobil and AAA guides, Relais Gourmand, and Wine Spectator.
Her impressive restaurant resume also includes Trio and Brasserie T in Chicago, and Stapleford House in England. She is a prolific cookbook author with 8 books to her credit, including Gale Gand’s Lunch!, American Brasserie, Butter Sugar Flour Eggs, Tru, Just a Bite, Chocolate and Vanilla, and Gale Gand’s Brunch.
Gale produces her own artisan root beer- “Gale’s Root Beer,” has a degree in Fine Arts majoring in silver and gold smithing, and is an accomplished professional musician. She frequently teaches cooking classes at Eataly Chicago, Blackberry Farm in Tennessee, and Elawa Farm in Lake Forest , Illinois.
